Your Google search ranking is at risk!
Key points:
- Changes to Google search results
- How to test if your website is mobile-friendly
- What to do to get higher ranking with Google
On 21st April, Google changed the way they rank websites. The new ranking algorithm takes into consideration a website’s mobile optimisation – that is to say, how easy your site is for people to use on their smart phones. Does that really matter? Yes! With over 70% of search being done on phones, if your website isn’t mobile-friendly, Google is going to penalise it with lower rankings.
Testing, testing, 123…
So, how do you test if your website is mobile-friendly? The easiest way is to pick up your phone and check. Don’t have your phone handy? That’s ok, you can check on your desktop: go to your website and drag the bottom corner of the window to shrink the size. If the format of the site changes, then that’s a good sign that your site is responsive.
If your website is not mobile, it might be time to consider an upgrade.
