I’m here with the COVID-19 continuity update for Australian businesses on Thursday 2nd July:
In today’s briefing:
1. Update on Victorian suburbs on lockdown
2. Grants for Victorian businesses in lockdown
1. Update on Victorian suburbs on lockdown
Several suburbs are under Level 3 Stay At Home restrictions, from now until at least 29th July.
The directive from the Victorian premier is that for people living in these locations there will only be four reasons to be out:
- Shopping for food and supplies,
- Care and caregiving,
- Exercise, and
- Study or work – if you can’t do it from home.
That last point is critical: if you can’t work from home, you are allowed to go to work.
This excerpt is from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services website:

See also this advice about going to work after being tested, with no symptoms.
The advice on the Victorian DHHS website is here.
Note that these conditions are simply a return to the restrictions that we were all living under until recently, so this is nothing that we haven’t worked with before. I also want to warn you that if the infection rates don’t drop quickly, it is likely that additional suburbs will be incorporated into the level 3 restrictions. Be aware and be nimble if this does occur.
2. Grants for Victorian businesses in lockdown
Businesses in the restricted Victorian areas may receive additional support funding of $5000. The grants are for businesses that were previously eligible for a Business Support Fund grant or a payroll tax refund.
For more information on the grants, visit the Business Victoria website here.

I know a lot of people are feeling frustrated. As business owners, our role is to keep looking forward. Stay safe, stay positive.
