We’re back and ready for 2021
The Tenfold team is back and ready to take on 2021. Coaching sessions resumed today and they will continue to be conducted via Zoom (or phone) for the near future due to the government restrictions. I’m keeping a watching brief on the restrictions and I’ll reassess how coaching sessions will be delivered when the restrictions change.

Latest COVID restrictions for workplaces
The Victorian restrictions on the number of people working in offices were due to be lifted from today however that has been delayed because of the recent new cases.
The cap was set to increase to 20 staff onsite for workplaces with fewer than 40 staff onsite, or 50% of office workers for larger businesses. This has been put on hold until further notice – I expect they will revisit later this week if the Victorian cases stay at zero.
As at today, if your Victorian workplace normally has fewer than 40 staff working in the office, you’re allowed to have 10 workers return to the office. Larger businesses (>40 office workers) are allowed to have up to 25% of office workers return on any given day.
These Victorian caps are subject to a density quotient of one person per 2sqm. Face masks must be worn indoors.

It’s worth noting that there haven’t been changes to other worksites such as building and construction. All construction operations can continue with COVID Safe plans, regardless of being residential or non-residential, and regardless of the number of tenancies.
NSW has repealed the requirement forcing employers to allow employees to work from home. All workers in NSW are allowed to attend their workplace. COVID Safe plans should continue to be implemented and maintained.

In Greater Brisbane, the lockdown will end at 6pm today (Monday 11th January 2021). After that time, some business restrictions will remain until 22 January 2021:
• Indoor businesses can have 1 person per 4 square metres.
• Outdoor businesses can have 1 person per 2 square metres.
• Businesses with a floor space up to 200 square metres can have 1 person per 2 square metres, up to a maximum of 50 people at once.
Masks are to be worn in indoor workplaces if you cannot socially distance. Masks are also to be carried at all times.
State border restrictions have been updated
Today the Victorian government announced that from 6:00pm tonight, anyone seeking to enter Victoria would be required to apply for a permit.
Victorian premier Dan Andrews also announced a traffic light system, with every part of Australia colour-coded as red, orange or green based on COVID cases and COVID risk profile. While Greater Sydney is still a red-zone, regional NSW is now orange.

As we’ve seen over the Christmas break, border restrictions can change very quickly so I advise you as the business owner to carefully consider any interstate travel and also encourage your team to do the same. The last thing you’d like to have happen is that you get locked out of your state or have to go into quarantine upon returning from a holiday.
The year ahead for business owners
2020 was a tough mental game to get through. Those who did best were the ones who rolled with the punches and took each day as it came.
Business owners tend by nature to be goal-oriented, so when we can’t control our progress towards goals we can feel lost and lacking direction. That is one of the reasons why the uncertainty of 2020 was a significant challenge for many business owners.
At this point at the start of the year, consider how you can manage your emotional state through the inevitable emotional rollercoaster we are going to continue to experience over the coming months.
