Business Insights – 25 May 2021 – Victorian restrictions for Greater Melbourne

I’m here with an update for Australian businesses on 25th May 2021.

This has just been announced at a Victorian state government press conference.  Based on the four COVID-19 cases yesterday and another one today we are moving back to a level of restrictions.  The government has announced that Greater Melbourne will have the following restrictions from 6pm today (25 May 2021) until 4 June 2021:

  • Masks must be worn indoors (unless you have an exemption), including in your office, factory or warehouse. This applies to everyone 12 years and older.
  • Schools and childcare will remain open.
  • Private gatherings in the home are limited to five visitors per day.
  • Public gatherings are limited to 30 people. Note: a “public gathering” refers primarily to private outdoor gatherings such as a group BBQ in a park.  Other venues and gatherings such as conference centres, work functions and gyms (commercial premises) are not considered public gatherings. These places and activities can continue with the current density quotients and COVIDsafe plans, and masks must be worn indoors.
  • For most of our clients the only impost will be the requirement to wear a mask while at work and moving around indoor venues within the community.

Travel Restrictions

There are no travel restrictions within Victoria, so you are still allowed to travel anywhere for any reason. However, people leaving Greater Melbourne will need to continue to comply with the restrictions to wear a mask indoors and limit private and public gatherings.

If you or your team have business trips planned with interstate travel, make sure you check the latest information on border restrictions.  Information for travel to each state and territory can be found on their respective government websites:

Things are moving quickly so be mindful of checking in regularly for the latest updates on restrictions.  For Tenfold clients, your business coach will also be keeping you updated.
