Business Insights – 1 March 2021 – Victorian workplace restrictions eased

I’m here with insights for Australian businesses on 1 March 2021.

Victorian business owners were delivered good news on Friday with the further easing of restrictions. As of Saturday 27 February, the cap on office workers has been lifted to 75%, or 30 workers if the organisation employs less than 40 people. These numbers remain subject to a density quotient of one person per two square metres. Masks are no longer required in offices.

What this means for business owners

With the increase in people returning to work in offices, we can expect to see a positive impact on general business activity such as larger corporates making faster decisions and progressing work that had stalled or slowed due to the difficulties of remote work.

Another advantage for Tenfold clients will be the increase in general activity that produces maintenance and break-fix work, for example; more cars being driven will benefit the auto services sector, higher use of commercial facilities will see greater demand for commercial maintenance services. More people going into the office leads to people moving around which makes the overall economy more buoyant.

My advice to business owners is to factor this next level of uplift into your capacity planning so that you are ahead of the curve. Your Tenfold business coach can give you advice for your sales pipeline and workforce planning.

Many of the businesses we coach and mentor have now implemented a full return to the office or are trialling a hybrid solution to assess its viability for the long term. This is another step forward to a COVID-normal working environment. If you’re one of our clients in Victorian that hasn’t addressed work from home (WFH) with your team, you should use this change as an opportunity to discuss, plan and implement ongoing working arrangements.
